Truman Eugene "Gene" Clippard, 82, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011, in Florida.
His wife of 15 years, Shirley, preceded him in death in February 2010.
He was born Aug. 28, 1928, near Jackson, to Truman and Ellen Abernathy Clippard. He was a graduate of Jackson High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University.
While living in Jackson he was an agent many years with National Life and Accident Insurance Co. He was a former member of First Baptist Church in Jackson.
He owned a landscape and tree nursery business in Florida. The past several years he and Shirley were dedicated to a new church start in Arcadia, Fla., having been sent with others by their home church, Shining Light Bible Church in Sarasota, Fla.
He is survived by a brother, Bob (Mattie) Clippard of Jackson; four children, Elaine (Wally) Dworaczyk of Houston, David (Suzanna) Clippard of Richmond, Va., Dean (Renea) Clippard of Frisco, Texas and Tim (Carla) Clippard of Jackson; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Stephen Slabaugh officiated a memorial service Monday at Shining Light Bible Church.
