JONESBORO, Ill. -- Truman E. Cerney, 80, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998, at City Care Center in Cobden.
He was born March 13, 1918, at Saratoga, son of James and Dora Lence Cerney. He and Bernett Harvel were married Nov. 10, 1945, in Murphysboro.
Cerney retired as vice president of Peschke Meat Packing Co. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda Kaas of Pensacola, Fla.; a son, John Cerney of Ellensburg, Wash.; three sisters, Mary Harvel of Herrin, Mamie Sanders of Carbondale, Sylvia Black of South Bend, Ind.; two brothers, Louie Cerney of Anna, Bill Cerney of Shorewood; and two grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hileman and Parr Funeral Chapel, with Pastor David Eidson officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday at the chapel from noon until service time.
