Truman Lee Baker, son to the late Truman Jesse and Veva Lee Lancaster Baker, was born July 27, 1935, in Cape Girardeau and departed this life Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, at Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis at the age of 86 years.
He married Cynthia C. Wise on May 22, 1955, and she survives of the home.
Truman was a former riverboat pilot for Ingram Barge. He was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Commerce, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Baker of Scott City; a son, Rich (Carolyn) Baker of Hokah, Minnesota; two daughters, Becky (Mike) Petitt and Tracey (Tom) Gilmer, both of Scott City; eight grandchildren, Misty (Steve) Balley, Richard (Kaitlen) Baker Jr., Nicole (Bret) Roedel, Michael and Mark Petitt, Tommy, Tim and Taylor Gilmer; and seven great-grandchildren, Dylan, Chad, Lexie, Caitlynn, Richie III, Adriana and Bailey.
Besides his parents, Truman was preceded in death by a brother, Charles "Buck" Baker.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Funeral will then be conducted at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Michael Woods officiating. Burial will take place at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
