JACKSON -- Truman B. Sawyer, 64, of Jackson, died Monday, Dec. 14, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 22, 1928, at Millersville, son of Steve and Meta Peters Sawyer. He and Peggy Jenkins were married Aug. 14, 1948. She died Nov. 18, 1990.
Sawyer worked 14 years at Bunny Bread in Cape Girardeau, and started Sawyer Realty Co. in 1974. He owned and operated Sawyer Shelter Insurance Agency 21 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Chamber of Commerce, Elks Lodge 2652, Excelsior Masonic Lodge 441, Sword of Bunker Hill, Order of Eastern Star, Optimist Club, charter member of Jackson Jaycees, and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Sawyer of LaPlata, Kevin Sawyer of Jackson; a brother, Lloyd Sawyer of St. Louis; two sisters, Irene Grindstaff of Whitewater, Lorene Talley of Cape Girardeau, and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Rodney Travis will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30.
