Tonya Bland, 41, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born June 17, 1973, in St. Louis, to Clarence Brown Sr. and Marie Bland.

Tonya was a custodian at Southeast Missouri State University and was house mother of Lambda Chi fraternity.

She is survived by her husband, Verdist Poindexter; a son, Ja'Ryan Bland; two daughters, Lauren Bland and Franchesca "Frankie" Poindexter, all of Cape Girardeau; numerous other family members; and many friends.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at Crain Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
