ORAN -- Toney Pobst, 88, of Oran, died Friday, Aug. 9, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 23, 1902 in Oran, to Michael and Louisa Menz Pobst.
On Nov. 18, 1924, he married Lorene Heisserer. She survives, along with two sons, A.J. Pobst of Chaffee, and Glenn Pobst of Oran; one brother, Harold Pobst, and one sister, Viola Hahn, both of Oran; along with seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pobst was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister.
Pobst retired in 1967 as a car inspector for the St. Louis-San Francisco Railroad. He also farmed in the Oran area.
He was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church, and a member of the Men's Sodality.
Funeral services will be held Monday, at 10 a.m., at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Oran, with the Rev. Normand Verone officiating. Burial will be in the Guardian Angels church cemetery.
The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Oran. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today.
