VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- George Thomas "Tommy" Clancy, 59, of Villa Ridge passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, at his home.
He was born March 21, 1954, in Cairo, Ill., son of the late Harold Leroy and Minnie Louise Niestrath Clancy.
Tommy was a member of First Baptist Church in Mounds, Ill., American Legion Post 178 in Villa Ridge, National Wild Turkey Federation, National Rifle Association and Operating Engineers Local 1048. He was an avid turkey hunter.
He was a maintenance welder with EEI Power Plant in Joppa, Ill. He was a 1972 graduate of Meridian High School in Mounds.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia (Cindy Lasley) Clancy of Villa Ridge; two brothers, Harold L. (Barbara) Clancy of Lake Worth, Fla., and Dennis (Elby) Clancy of Newton, Ill.; a sister, Debra (Simon) Deans of England; and several cousins, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Linda Honey and Beverly Jane Nabors.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Mounds.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with Tom Bridges officiating. Interment will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Southern Illinois in memory of Tommy Clancy.
