CHARLESTON -- Tommie Robinson, 75, of Charleston, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1992, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Oct. 6, 1916, in Little Rock, Ark., son of Filmore and Lena Simpkins Robinson. He and Leodies Gaines were married Aug. 17, 1942.
Robinson was retired from Mueller Farms in Bertrand. He was a member of Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Deventer, had served on the deacon board and former superintendent of Sunday School. He was a member of Russ Ash Lodge 22 AF&AM at Charleston. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Arthur Robinson of Sikeston, Tommie Robinson Jr. of Battle Creek, Mich.; eight daughters, Daisy Harris of Cape Girardeau, Bessie Gordon of Lansing, Mich., Etha Jackson of Atlanta, Ga., Lilly Florence of Sikeston, Rosa Barfield and Barbara Griffin of Chicago, Joyce Robinson of Portage, Mich., Ceola Morris of Charleston; a brother, O.C. Robinson of Chicago; two sisters, Lillian Sanders and Lusintha Wilson of Chicago; 17 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Sparks Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church, with the Rev. William Watson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
