Tom D. Fortenberry, 88, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Sept. 27, 1929, in Winnsboro, Louisiana, to the late Tom and Jeanie Polk Fortenberry.
Tom and Birdie Davis were married July 9, 1962, in Cape Girardeau. She preceded him in death Aug. 24, 2015.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was a foreman and lineman for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 702 in Frankfort, Illinois, for 55 years. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge No. 639 for 50 years and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie (Steve) Frey and Jeanine Sexton, all of Corning, Arkansas; stepson, Rick A. (Valorie) Davis; brother, J.W. Fortenberry of Winnsboro; brother-in-law, Gene (Phyllis) Maevers; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers, Robert and J.T. Fortenberry; and sisters, Irene, Lucille and Mertyl.
Funeral service will be at noon Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel Maske officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran School.
