CHARLESTON -- Tola G. Brewer, 91, formerly of Charleston, died Saturday, July 22, 1995, at the Hermitage Care Center in Hermitage, Mo.

She was born May 16, 1904, in Mississippi County to the late William and Nancy Douglas Hale. She had lived in Mississippi County most of her life and was a member of the First Church of God in East Prairie.

Moving to Urbana in 1988 to live with her daughter, she attended the Olive Point Baptist Church at Preston, Mo.

She was employed by the Welch Baby Carriage Co. in St. Louis until her retirement in 1964.

On Jan. 15, 1947, she married Fred Brewer, who preceded her in death on July 3, 1973. One son, two brothers and 14 sisters also preceded her in death.

Surviving are a son, Lee J. True of Mascotte, Fla.; two daughters, Carriel Deane of Urbana and Pat Broyles of Pevely; a sister, Pearl Evans of Peoria, Ill; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Marion Barker officiating.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
