Thomas Tygett

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Thomas Glenn Tygett born in North Kansas City, Missouri, May 31, 1960, grew up in Cape Girardeau and moved to Arizona, where he passed away after several years of poor health on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, just short of his 61st birthday, at his home.

Tom, always an outgoing personality, graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a business and marketing degree which he used over the years working "large events" across the United States. He and friends organized and presented three Air Shows in the Arizona area in his early years before Tom worked for Select Artists helping with halftime shows at professional football, baseball events as well as outdoor festivals, concerts and PGA golf tournaments. For a time he was director of Chase Field in downtown Arizona.

Always ready to travel with family or friends, Tom enjoyed God's creation wherever he visited. His Catholic faith was an important part of his journey and his work with Cursillo a wonderful support. His yearly visits home were always a priority to celebrate with family and many childhood, high school and college friends who will miss him.

Tom lost his dad in 1993, leaving his mother, Anita Tygett of Cape Girardeau; brothers, Scott (Meegan) Tygett of Dayton, Ohio; Jeffery (Maureen) Tygett of Jackson; Matthew Tygett of Cape Girardeau; a half-brother, Grant Tygett of Nevada; and a sister, Ann Catherine (Patrick) Jones of St. Louis; as well as two aunts, one uncle, many cousins, six nephews, three nieces, six great-grand-nephews/nieces, a God-daughter and a God-son.

Tom had a large network of friends and was always available, as well as generous, in good times as well as tough times, in his personal and professional relationships. He was a hardworking, honest, loving son and "big brother." He will be missed by family and many friends.

Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, with a rosary at 10:30 a.m.

Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Rick Jones officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri or a charity of your choice.
