Thomas Vern Turner, 78, of Farmington, Mo., passed away Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, in Farmington.
He was born March 22, 1932, at Millersville, son of Elva Ernest and Maude Josie Gallup Turner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Joyce Sander.
Tom moved to Farmington in 1959 where he later retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. He enjoyed farming both while working for the phone company and in his retirement.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country in the Korean conflict.
Tom attended Crossroads Church of God. He was a member of Norman L. Rigdon Post 5896 of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Telephone Pioneers of America.
Survivors include two brothers, Paul W. Turner of Farmington and Donald Turner of Millersville. Left to cherish his memories are his children, Gary L. Turner (Kathy) of Jackson, Vern A. Turner (Angie) of Farmington, Susan E. White of O'Fallon, Mo., Michael C. Marler of Colorado Springs, Colo., Thomas D. Turner (Kelly) of Nashville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, HospiceCare Inc. or any organization serving underprivileged children.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cozean Memorial Chapel.
