Thomas Haywood Stoops, 88, of Scott City died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 26, 1916, in Carrsville, Ky., son of Merit and Verda May Stoops. He and Della Graden were married in 1941 in Cape Girardeau.

Stoops had worked for Blattner Farms, and then worked 40 years at Superior Electric. He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Men's Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Bradley Stoops of Scott City; a sister, Zola Huckstep of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, a brother and two sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Randy Heckman officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
