GALCONDA, Ill. -- Thomas Ray Staggs, 46, of Galconda, formerly of Perryville, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, from an automobile accident.

He was born Sept. 17, 1952, at Dyer County, Tenn., son of Henry Staggs and Esther Hamblin Thompson. He and Michelle Carretti were married on Aug. 3, 1989, in Perryville.

Staggs was a farm laborer. He was an Army veteran.

He attended the Church of God.

Survivors include his wife; his father and stepmother, Brenda Staggs; mother and stepfather, Shorty Thompson; a son, Brian Pingel of Perryville; three daughters, Abby Staggs of Galconda, and Cheryl and Amanda Staggs, both of Owensville, Mo.; three brothers, David Staggs of Portland, Ore., Dennis Staggs of Chicago, and John Edward Staggs of Perryville; a half brother, Stephen Staggs of Perryville; stepbrother, Eddie Thompson of Perryville; a sister, Linda Hall of Sedgewickville, Mo.; four stepsisters, Ruth LaRose of Grants Pass, Ore., Helen Renaud of Perryville, Bernice Ammons of Georgia and Dorothy Gromer of Patton, Mo.; and a half sister, Sonya Staggs of Perryville.

Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 6:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Don Henson will officiate, with burial at Home Cemetery.
