Thomas E. Roempagel, 61, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at his home.
He was born March 31, 1946, in Mishawaka, Ind., son of Richard and Florence Coy Roempagel. He and Kyong A. "Kim" Roempagel were married Jan. 14, 1975, in Seoul, South Korea.
Roempagel was a graduate of Indiana University in South Bend. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1985. His overseas tours in Asia lasted 11 years and included Japan, the Philippines, South Korea and two combat tours in Vietnam. He served five years in Europe with a tour in Germany and one in Italy.
He then worked at Industrial Fuels and Resources in Scott City, Stark Manufacturing in Charleston, Mo., and Rapco International in Jackson. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Erik and Thor; two daughters, Sharon and Kirsten; and a sister, Barbara Hutts.
Visitation will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Monday at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo. The Rev. Cotus James will officiate. Full military honors will be conducted.
