Thomas Howard Moore Jr., 82, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born June 6, 1918, at Kennett, son of Thomas Howard and Vaudie Pearl Myers Moore Sr. He and Mildred Gamblin were married Oct. 27, 1945, at Kennett.
Moore moved to Cape Girardeau in 1967. He worked at Southeast Hospital three years, managed the Rialto Theater four years, and was a nurse/orderly at Cape LaCroix Nursing Home, retiring in 1983.
He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3838. He served with the Military Police in the U.S. Army during World War II from December 1940 to October 1945. He participated in the European African Middle East and Rhineland Theater, and was awarded the Bronze Star.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Dennis Moore of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Winifred Golightly of Jackson; a brother, Gerald Moore of Almo, Ky.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum, with military rites by VFW Post 3838.
