ST. MARYS -- Thomas W. Laurentius, 71, of St. Marys died Thursday, Jan. 16, 1997, at John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis.
He was born Nov. 29, 1925, at Biehle, son of Stephen and Theresa Lee Laurentius.
Laurentius was a carpenter with Sides Construction Co. in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of St. Maurus Catholic Church at Biehle, and VFW Post 4282 in Perryville. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II, and was a prisoner of war for a year.
Survivors include a son, Larry Laurentius of New York; three brothers, James Laurentius of Perryville, Leroy and Elmer Laurentius of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Leona Propst of Bridgeton, Gladys Meyer of Biehle, Betty Jones of Jackson; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville from 3:30-9 p.m. Sunday, and Monday from 6:30-9:30 a.m. The parish wake will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, and VFW wake at 7:15.
Funeral Mass will be at St. Maurus Church at 10 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Al Hoernig officiating. Burial will be in St. Maurus Cemetery.
