Thomas Johnson

Thomas C. Johnson, 63, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 24, 1938, in Oriole, Mo., to the late Glenn S. and Mable H. Kassel Johnson. On Oct. 24, 1958, he married Ruth Ann Clark in Cape Girardeau.

He was a member of Christ Church of the Heartland and was employed as a meat cutter with Wal-Mart in Cape Girardeau. He had previously worked as a meat cutter with Del-Farm in Cape Girardeau, and was a member of the Tennessee Walking Association and Racking Horse Association. He was also a trainer for walking and racking horses.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Tommy F. Johnson of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Lisa A. Weaver of Jackson; four brothers, Dick R. Johnson of Jackson, Sam and Steve B. Johnson of Cape Girardeau and Ronnie May of St. Louis.

Also surviving are five sisters, Glennetta Houck of Cape Girardeau, Sally J. Lovell of McClure, Ill., Joann Nemath of San Diego, Calif.; Nancy R. Burrough of Arnold, Mo., and Charlotte A. Coomer of Scott City; four grandchildren, Angela L. Weaver, Kyla D. Weaver, Trent S. Weaver and Anna Marie Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Zachery Strong officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Commerce, Mo.

Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society or to Christ Church of the Heartland.
