Thomas M. Hogan, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 9, 1920, in Cairo, Ill., son of Thomas W. and Cleo L. Oglesby Hogan. He and Arietta Spurlock Hogan were married Dec. 31, 1949, in Clay County, Ark. She preceded him in death Feb. 6, 1998.
Mr. Hogan was an auto mechanic for Ford Groves Motor Co. and later was owner/operator of Hogan Phillips 66 on Kingshighway for 21 years, retiring in 1990. He was a former member of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Hogan is survived by three daughters, Sandra (Ronald) Ziegler of Cape Girardeau, Debra Sue Knight of Jackson and Lisa Gaye Hogan of Arkadelphia, Ark.; two sisters, Barbara Porter of Houston and Janice Niederstadt of Beaumont, Texas; four brothers, Arnold Hogan of Red Bud, Ill., Robert Hogan of Cairo, Ill., Joe Hogan of St. Charles, Mo., and John Hogan of Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one grandson, Eric Knight; and one sister, Virginia Hogan.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel, with the Rev. Nathan Morse officiating. Burial was in Casper Cemetery in Anna, Ill.
