Thomas H. Lett III, 40, of 200 Lett Lane died Friday night, Jan. 7, 1994, at his home after an illness of two years. Thomas H. Lett III, 40, of 200 Lett Lane died Friday night, Jan. 7, 1994, at his home after an illness of two years.

He was born Aug. 2, 1953 in Cape Girardeau, the son of Thomas and Mary Lou Caldwell Lett. They survive of the home.

Also surviving are a brother, Paul A. Lett of Cape Girardeau; and a sister, Scarlett Lett-Puls of St. Louis.

Most of his childhood was spent at Benton, Mo., and Springfield, Va.

He graduated from West Springfield High School and then enlisted in the Navy in 1971. He was discharged in 1982.

While in the service, he served in Vietnam and was also involved in the nuclear power program

From 1983 to 1990, he worked for Allied Signal Corp. He worked for Allied Signal at the Goddard Space Center in Maryland, where he was project manager.

As an Allied Signal employee, he also worked in Dakar, Senegal, at the NASA tracking station, and as project manager at the Agricultural Research Center in Peoria, Ill.

He graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1991 with a general studies degree.

He was a member of the Benton United Methodist Church.

Funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Benton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Gregory and the Rev. Paul Catterton officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel.
