Thomas M. Griffith, 66, of Fenton, Mo., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at Des Peres Hospital in Des Peres, Mo.

He was born Nov. 13, 1942, in St. Louis, son of Merrell M. and Toby Thomas Griffith. He and Julie Couch were married Nov. 7, 1970, in St. Louis.

Griffith graduated from Sikeston High School in 1960 and from Southeast Missouri State University in 1967. He was a former senior engineer with McDonnell-Douglas Co. in St. Louis. He was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include a daughter, Courtney Griffith of Arnold, Mo.; two sons, Darin R. Griffith of Cape Girardeau and Kyle T. Griffith of Arnold; his mother, Toby Griffith-Wyandt of Galena, Mo.; a sister, Joey Crosnoe of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Richard Griffith of Millersville, Dr. S. Kent Griffith of Cape Girardeau; a former wife, Julie Griffith of Fenton; and two grandchildren, Ali and Tristen.

He was preceded in death by his father, Merrell M. Griffith.

A memorial service was held Sunday at Lynwood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Belcher officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Cape County Memorial Park.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
