SIKESTON, Mo. -- Thomas Henry Garrett, 71, of Benton, Mo., died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 8, 1929, in Vanduser, Mo., son of Oscar and Bertha Myrtle Gross Garrett. He was a farm laborer and mechanic for several area farmers.
He and Bertha Yarber were married July 5, 1956, at Corinth, Miss.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jimmy Caviness of Booneville, Miss., and Tommy Caviness of Benton; three daughters, Linda Brown of Belmont, Miss., Billie Carpenter of Booneville and Rebecca Caviness of Benton; six brothers, Jessie Garrett of St. Louis, George Garrett of Davis Junction, Ill., Raymond Garrett of Sikeston, Truman Garrett of Lowndes, Mo., Sammy Garrett of Chaffee, Mo., and Joe Garrett of Sikeston; four sisters, Emma Flemmings Moore of Marietta, Miss., Dorothy McKenzie of Paragould, Ark., Shirley Foster of Iuka, Miss., and Margie Rynor of Marietta, Ga.; two stepsisters, Nancy Davis of Kennett, Mo., and Linda Puge of Paragould; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Monday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Dewayne Coleman will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
