CAIRO, Ill. -- Thomas E. VanCleve, 71, of Cairo, died Sunday, April 30, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Eldorado, son of Thomas and Edna VanCleve. VanCleve was owner/operator of Cade's Florist many years, and then retired as parts manager at Gutterman Motors. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Cairo Elks and VFW. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II...

CAIRO, Ill. -- Thomas E. VanCleve, 71, of Cairo, died Sunday, April 30, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Eldorado, son of Thomas and Edna VanCleve.

VanCleve was owner/operator of Cade's Florist many years, and then retired as parts manager at Gutterman Motors. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Cairo Elks and VFW. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He had attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau and Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y.

Survivors include his wife, the former Martha Luby; two sons, John VanCleve of Wickliffe, Ky., Thomas VanCleve of Indianapolis, Ind.; a daughter, Joan Ball of Cobden; a sister, Laura Muscato of Lockport, N.Y., and four grandchildren.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 5 p.m. today. The rosary will be at 7.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church, with the Rev. Jerome Fortenberry officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge.
