CROWDER, Mo. -- Thomas Burke, 82, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at the John J. Pershing V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He was born July 22, 1918, in Vanduser, Mo., son of Elbert and Lena Collins Burke. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. CROWDER, Mo. -- Thomas Burke, 82, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at the John J. Pershing V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

He was born July 22, 1918, in Vanduser, Mo., son of Elbert and Lena Collins Burke. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Morley Church of Christ and a retired construction worker.

He and Ruby Opal Evans were married Dec. 26, 1939. She died June 17, 1989.

Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Gail Hatley of Vanduser, Mo.; one son, Johnny Burke of Crowder; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter and one grandson.

Friends may call from 1-2:30 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home.

Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at New Morley Cemetery at Morley, Mo.
