MARSTON, Mo. -- Thomas Louis Bowen, 84, of Marston passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Jan. 31, 1930, in Savannah, Tennessee, to Edward Louis and Kathleen Hunt Bowen. He and Betty Jo Thornton were married Jan. 21, 1953, in Piggott, Arkansas, and she died Dec. 22, 2002. He and Florence Gooch were married in 2006 and she preceded him in death June 7, 2014...

MARSTON, Mo. -- Thomas Louis Bowen, 84, of Marston passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 31, 1930, in Savannah, Tennessee, to Edward Louis and Kathleen Hunt Bowen.

He and Betty Jo Thornton were married Jan. 21, 1953, in Piggott, Arkansas, and she died Dec. 22, 2002. He and Florence Gooch were married in 2006 and she preceded him in death June 7, 2014.

Mr. Bowen worked many years at Reliable Meat Processing Co. in South Chicago. He was a former resident of Oak Ridge and in 1991 moved to Marston.

Loving survivors include four sons, Eddie (Marilyn) Bowen of Jackson, Thomas R. (Olivia) Bowen of Chaffee, Missouri, Ebert (Lisa) Bowen of Burfordville and Danny (Kathy) Bowen of Fruitland; one brother, Arnold (Judy) Bowen of Millersville; two half brothers, Bobby (Karen) Bowen of Moody, Missouri, and Larry Bowen of Gordonville; three half sisters, Shirley Smith of Jackson, Betty (Andy) Greciousa of Oak Ridge and Joy Hill of Jackson; and stepsister, Joann Dickman of Cape Girardeau.

Also surviving are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 3:30 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Chris Vaught officiating. Interment will be in Goshen Cemetery in Oak Ridge.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Diabetes Foundation.
