SCOTT CITY -- Funeral for Theon Frank "Mouse" Schaefer of Scott City will be held at 10 a.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. The Rev. William Dickey will officiate, with burial in Lightner Memorial Cemetery.
Schaefer, 77, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 12, 1921, at Oran, son of Lawrence and Mathilda Ann Bollinger Schaefer. He and Marie Bertha Schoen were married Nov. 23, 1943, at Kelso.
Schaefer had been a truck driver with R.B. Potashnick. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Vernon, Gilbert and Mike Schaefer of Scott City; four daughters, Dorene Hamm, Pat Blankenship and Mary Fowler of Scott City, and Sharon Knight of Neosho.
Also surviving are two brothers, Roy Schaefer of Peoria, Ill., Arnold Schaefer of Jackson; three sisters, Rosie Baugus of Benton, Frieda Scheffer and Dora Koehler of Jackson; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons and three brothers.
