Theodore Aloysius Goetz Jr., 75, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, April 17, 2000, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Services.
He was born Dec. 29, 1924, at New Hamburg, son of Theodore and Anna Grojean Goetz Sr. He and Tillie Westrich Slinkard were married May 8, 1954, at Chaffee.
Goetz farmed at New Hamburg and Chaffee. He also worked at International Shoe and Florsheim Shoe Co. 32 years in Chaffee and Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, and VFW Post 3127 at Chaffee. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1991 from Chaffee.
He served with the U.S. Army Infantry in Germany and the Rhineland during World War II. He received two Bronze Stars, American Theatre Ribbon, Good Conduct and Victory Medals, and EAME Theater Ribbon.
Survivors include his wife, and a sister, Marcella Seyer of East Cape Girardeau, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7:30.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park, with graveside rites by VFW Post 3838.
