Theodore "Ted" W. Christisen, 78, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 12, 1945, in Seventy-Six, Missouri, to Ludwig William and Evelyn Mary Schremp Christisen. He and Caroline Brewer were married Sept. 21, 1968, at United Methodist Church in Perryville, Missouri. He later married Janet Runge in 1988. She preceded him in death Aug. 23,2017.
Ted worked several years as a farm hand and especially enjoyed bailing hay. He also worked at the alfalfa mill in McBride, Missouri, and for Deere & Co. in East Moline, Illinois. He was an over-the-road truck driver for more than 40 years.
Loving survivors include two children, Patti Jean (Ralph) Gilliam of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Mark Wade Christisen of Jackson; two brothers, Roy (Shirley) Christisen and Allen (Renee) Christisen; four sisters, Loretta Wood, Judy (Robert) Fry, Patricia (Rodney) Torbert and Donna Mahnken; niece, Amanda (Michael) Klaus; nephew, Bradley (Tiffany) Mahnken; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Theodore was preceded in death by a son, Theodore Christisen II; eight brothers, Robert, David, Merlin, Larry, Kenneth and Ronald Christisen and two infant brothers; three sisters, Carolyn Grindstaff, Norma Schumer and Terri Emmendorfer; and two brothers-in-law, Neal Mahnken and James Grindstaff.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 8 a.m. to service time Thursday, Aug. 24, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at the church. Burial will follow at Point Rest Cemetery near Menfro, Missouri.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville or Zion Lutheran Church at Crosstown, Missouri.
