JACKSON -- Theobald Gustav Fuehler, 99, of Cape Girardeau and formerly of Jackson died Thursday, April 23, 1992, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 21, 1892, at Frohna, the son of Julius Paul and Mathilde Schmidt Fuehler. On Oct. 24, 1920, he married Clara Sophia Hollmann, who preceded him in death Sept. 5, 1989.
He farmed at Raddles, Ill. and Oak Ridge before his retirement in 1959. He then moved to Jackson, until he moved to Wittenberg in 1977. In 1982, he became a resident of The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was a World War I veteran, and for 62 years was a member of the American Legion Post #158 in Jackson. He also was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg.
Survivors include three daughters, Alberta Chambers of St. Louis, Verna May Haertling of Wittenberg and Ruby Kraft of Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Marie Seibel of Murphysboro, Ill. and Martha Lackey of Rural Hall, N.C.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great, great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by six sisters and a brother.
Friends may call from 4:30-8 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, where funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 27. The Rev. Willard Kassulke will officiate, and burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
