SIKESTON -- Thelma L. Black, 70, of Sikeston, died Thursday, April 13, 1995, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born Aug. 25, 1924, in Dyersburg, Tenn., to Tull G. and Lucy O. Arnold Johnson. She married Don Black on Nov. 13, 1949, in Sikeston.
Black worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 11 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston and of the King's Daughters Bible School Class at the church.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Philip Black of Sikeston; a daughter, Karen Mathes of Leawood, Kan.; a sister, Jackie Green of Sikeston; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 11 a.m. at the chapel, with the Revs. Jim Guffie and Charles Buck officiating. Burial will follow in Sikeston.
