SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Thelma Ferrell of Sikeston will be held at 2 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jimmie Matthews will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.

Ferrell, 95, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1993, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 18, 1898, in Tipton County, Tenn., daughter of P.F. and Laura Lanier. She and J.V. Ferrell were married Feb. 28, 1917. He died June 9, 1969.

Ferrell was a member of Miner Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Frank Ferrell of Sikeston; two daughters, Nadine Shuppert of Kevil, Ky., Barbara Wilkins of Paducah, Ky.; a sister, Myrtle Waters of East Alton, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sons and a grandson.
