Funeral for Thelma Abernathie of Cape Girardeau will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Rev. Clayton Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Jonesboro City Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ill.

Friends may call at the chapel from 4-6 p.m. today.

Abernathie, 86, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Nov. 13, 1913, in McClure, Ill., daughter of William G. and Grace Reams Rymer. She married Howard T. Abernathie.

Abernathie was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and its Wimodausis Circle. She had lived in Cape Girardeau since 1963.

Survivors include a daughter, Marietta Loos of Englewood, Colo.; three sisters, Wanda Colyer of Marion, Ill., Sibyl Odette and Hazel Walker of Anna, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers.
