Thearl Lee Glastetter, 84, of Scott City died Monday, May 2, 2011, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Sept. 6, 1926, in Decatur County, Tenn., to Bird and Birdie Cottrell Hill. She married Harbert Moore on April 4, 1944. He preceded her in death Aug. 17, 1965. She later married Linus Leo Glastetter on Aug. 31, 1968, in Benton, Mo. He preceded her Nov. 3, 2010.
Thearl worked as a seamstress at Ely Walker Co. in Scott City from 1949 to 1958. She later owned Moore Grocery in Benton from 1958 to 1966. She operated Moore's Restaurant in Morley, Mo., in 1966 and also owned Babe's Tavern in Kelso, Mo., from 1966 to 1967, and in 1968 she became a full-time homemaker.
She is survived by a son, Pee Wee (Virgie) Moore of Daisy; a stepson, James Leroy Moore of Ormond Beach, Fla.; a brother, Thurman (Norma Jean) Hill of Parsons, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Stacey (Roger) Smith of Whitewater, Patrick Moore (Michelle White) of Scott City, Michelle (John) Reeves of Whitewater, Lisa Phelps of Eastern Tennessee; five great-grandchildren, Zachary and Kaitlyn Smith, Christopher Moore, Brandon and Kimberly Horman.
She was preceded in death by three stepsons and a stepdaughter.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Unity Baptist Cemetery at Benton.
