The Rev. Glenn F. Cummings, 90 years of age, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., passed away Dec. 31, 1999, at the Missouri Veterans Home. He was born Jan. 3, 1909, in Oran, Mo., son of the late Oral C. and Jessie O'Guinn Cummings. On Jan. 14, 1931, he married the former Louise Burris in Jackson, Mo...

The Rev. Glenn F. Cummings, 90 years of age, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., passed away Dec. 31, 1999, at the Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born Jan. 3, 1909, in Oran, Mo., son of the late Oral C. and Jessie O'Guinn Cummings. On Jan. 14, 1931, he married the former Louise Burris in Jackson, Mo.

He was a member of the Red Star Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. He attended the Cape Girardeau schools and then attend the Walnut Ridge Baptist College and graduated from the SIU Baptist College in Carbondale, Ill.

He had been a Baptist minister throughout Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois, from 1950 to 1994. He was a pastor at Iona Baptist, Bethany Baptist and New Bethel Baptist churches. He also helped build the Bethany Baptist Church. He also was pastor at Lake Milligan Baptist Church in Miller City, Ill., and was pastor at Reynoldsville Baptist Church at Reynoldsville, Ill. He also worked at Shivelbine's Music Store for several years.

Survivors include wife, Louise Cummings of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Marcia Stone of Jackson, Mo.; two sisters, Helen Murray of Jackson, and Iris Jane Hoffmeister of Gravois Mills, Mo.; and two grandsons, Scott Uelsmann of St. Louis, Mo., and Keith Uelsmann of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby LeRoy Cummings and Richard Cummings, and a sister, Ruby Edmonds.

Funeral service will be Monday, Jan. 3, at 10:30 a.m., at the Red Star Baptist Church, with Rev. Jim Matthews officiating; burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan 2, at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Reynolds, Jerry Hixson, Robert Stone, Rush Fortner, Charles Crawford, Clyde Clippard.
