The Rev. Francis Crowley

The Rev. Francis J. Crowley died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at Carondelet Manor in Kansas City, Mo.

He was born April 17, 1929, in Chicago, son of Francis and Mary Mangon Crowley.

After attending St. Vincent's College in Cape Girardeau he entered the Congregation of the Mission (the Vincentian Fathers and Brothers) May 22, 1948. He studied philosophy and theology at St. Mary's Seminary in Perryville, Mo. Crowley completed advanced degrees in mathematics and science at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau and DePaul University in Chicago.

Crowley had resided at Vincentian Parish Mission Center in Independence, Mo., the past 15 years.

He was ordained a priest June 2, 1957. His priestly assignments were in education and formation of men preparing for the priesthood. He was assigned to St. Vincent's College, St. John's Seminary in Kansas City and St. Vincent DePaul Seminary in Montebello, Calif. He helped restart the program of the Vincentian Parish Missions in 1974.

Survivors include a sister Joan Gallery of Chicago.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Coronation of Our Lady Church in Grandview, Mo.

Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 7. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Vincentian Community Cemetery in Perryville.

Muehlebach Funeral Home in Kansas City is in charge of arrangements.
