MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- The Rev. Charles William Hovis, age 78, of Marble Hill died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at Eldercare of Marble Hill. He was born Nov. 28, 1921, at Birch, Mo, son of the late Mose and Mary Etta (Ode) Robbins Hovis. He was married to Anita Robbins Oct. 1, 1990, and she preceded him in death...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- The Rev. Charles William Hovis, age 78, of Marble Hill died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at Eldercare of Marble Hill.

He was born Nov. 28, 1921, at Birch, Mo, son of the late Mose and Mary Etta (Ode) Robbins Hovis. He was married to Anita Robbins Oct. 1, 1990, and she preceded him in death.

He was an ordained minister for the Fundamental Ministries, a member of Community Church and an Air Force veteran of World War II.

Survivors include three sons, Danny and Patty Hovis of Marble Hill, Johnny Hovis of Advance, Mo., and Curtis Hovis of St. Louis; six daughters, Deanna and Gary Regot of Middletown, Mo., Mary and Jack Sullivan of St. Charles, Mo., Inita Hovis of Chesterfield, Mo., Cindy and Richie Bryan of St. Charles, Mo., Nina Jean and Randy Morris of Lake of Ozarks, and Effie and Reb Masters of Marble Hill; two sisters, Gladys Green of Silva, Mo. and Leoma Payne of Arnold, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and a grandchild.

Visitation will be Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill and Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Grassy Friendship General Baptist Church. Funeral service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Gene Robbins, the Rev. Clinton Massa and the Rev. Diana Cook officiating.

Interment will be at Grassy Cemetery in Grassy with full military rites conducted by the Military Honors Team and VFW Post 5900 of Marble Hill.
