Terry Wayne Owens, 66, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at his birth place of Zalma, Mo.
He was born Jan. 16, 1947, in Zalma to James Ervin and Pearl B. Herrell Owens.
Terry graduated from Zalma High School in 1965 and entered the Army and served as a drill instructor and operations NCO, retiring in 2006 after serving 40 years.
He was a member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Masonic Lodge No. 545 AF&AM in Zalma and Advance Eagles No. 4154.
Survivors include two sons, Wade E. (Joyce) Owens of Cape Girardeau and Jason C. (Lora) Owens of Kelso, Mo.; two brothers, Gerald Owens of Advance, Mo., and Kenneth Owens of Bethalto, Ill.; five sisters, Norma Hodge of Thomaston, Ga., Mary Wilton of Piedmont, Mo., Rosalie Hoffman of Wagoner, Okla., Dorothy Bond of Advance and Judy Maples of Godfrey, Mo.; six grandchildren, Ashley Williams, Alex Owens, Christian Owens, Madison Owens, Allison Owens and Jace Owens; two great-grandchildren, Myra Jones and Kevin Williams; and a sister-in-law, Maxine Owens of Godfrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Verdell Owens of Godfrey and Ben Owens of Zalma.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel, with a Masonic service by the Advance Masonic Lodge at 7 p.m.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel, with the Rev. Luther Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Cato Cemetery in Greenbrier, Mo., with full military honors by the Missouri Honors Team.
