Sylvia Smith, 87, of Gordonville died Friday, June 28, 2013, at St Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Nov 25, 1925, daughter of Robert and Ethel Thomas Brown. She and John W. Sylvia Smith, 87, of Gordonville died Friday, June 28, 2013, at St Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov 25, 1925, daughter of Robert and Ethel Thomas Brown. She and John W. Smith were married May 2, 1946. He survives.

She was a member of Berean Baptist Church in Jackson and a former member of Lone Prairie Baptist Church in Qulin, Mo.

Survivors include her loving husband; a son, John (Hope) Smith of Cherokee Village, Ark.; three daughters, Carol (Bill) Harshaw of Gordonville, Joy (Donnie) Belcher of Kennett, Mo., and Janice Corbett of Orland Park, Ill.; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; five brothers, Bobby (Pauline) Brown of Puxico, Mo., Curtis (Mae) Brown of Port St. Jo, Fla., Paul (Sherry) Brown of Florence, Ala., Tom (Ellen) Brown of Belleville, Ill., and Eddie (Marsha) Brown of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; two sisters, Arinda Littrell of Montgomery City, Mo., and Martha (George) Wilson of Poplar Bluff, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Scott Belcher; four brothers; and a sister.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Berean Baptist Church in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at noon Monday at the church, with the Rev. Jerry Canady officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. in at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Berean Baptist Church.
