BALLWIN -- Sylvester Kirn, 77, of Ballwin, formerly of Biehle, died Saturday, June 22, 1996, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis.
He was born Sept. 15, 1918, in St. Louis, the son of August and Katherine Zoellner Kirn. He married Zita Moore on Oct. 31, 1942.
Kirn was a member of St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle and of VFW Post 4282 and American Legion Post 133 in Perryville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Alan Kirn of St. Louis; two daughters, Carolyn Huber of Fredericktown and Joan Hoffman of Perryville; two brothers, Tom Kirn of Belleville, Ill., and Francis "Gene" Kirn of Desoto; four sisters, Sister Bernadette "Stella" Kirn of Wheaton, Ill., Dorothy Grass of Norfolk, Va., Bernetta Beaman of Houston, Texas, and Pat Hamilton of Belleville, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today and 6:30-9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Young & Sons Funeral Chapel in Perryville. A parish wake service will be at 6:30 tonight.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
