CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Sylvester William Asmus, 78, of Chaffee peacefully passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, at his home.
He was born Jan. 31, 1941, in Oran, Missouri, son of Adam and Frances Wiedefeld Asmus. He and Pauline Griffin were married May 12, 1962. They had been married for 57 years. She survives of the home.
Sylvester was a graduate of Oran High School. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and its Men's Club in Chaffee. He was a member of the Guardian Angel Knights of Columbus Council No. 4311 in Oran in which he was a past grand knight. He retired from Do-It Best, after working there for more than 33 years.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Leigh Asmus of Dexter, Missouri; two sons, Daniel Asmus of Cape Girardeau and Shawn (Lisa) Asmus of Jackson; four grandchildren, Jordan, Monica, Kolbe and Ren Asmus of Jackson; sister, Margie LeGrand of Oran; and sister-in-law, June (Gus) Asmus of Chaffee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Alfred Asmus, August Asmus and Clarence Asmus; and sister, Agnes Landewee.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Parish rosary will be at 7 p.m., followed by a K.C. prayer service.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
