Suzanne Marie Haden, 42, died in Cape Girardeau Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, after a long illness.
She was born July 28, 1958, in Sterling, Ill., daughter of Betty Jean (Ellie) and Walter Darrell Haden.
She and her family moved to Tennessee in 1966. She graduated from Union City High School and attended Murray State University and the University of Tennessee at Martin.
She served in both Tennessee and Missouri as a volunteer teacher of literacy classes and as a tutor of international students learning English as a second language. Her poetry was published in "little" magazines, and she had paintings and other artwork exhibited in shows.
Survivors include her parents of South Fulton, Tenn.; one brother, Joel Marcus Haden of Knoxville, Tenn.; and one sister, Natalya Joy Haden of Paducah, Ky.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of cremation. Private burial will occur at a later date.
