JACKSON -- Elsie M. "Susie" James, 50, of Jackson died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 17, 1946, near New Wells, daughter of Otis and Beulah Gastineau Brown. She and Jimmie E. "Jim" James were married Nov. 28, 1964...

JACKSON -- Elsie M. "Susie" James, 50, of Jackson died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 17, 1946, near New Wells, daughter of Otis and Beulah Gastineau Brown. She and Jimmie E. "Jim" James were married Nov. 28, 1964.

James was a 1964 graduate of Jackson High School. She had worked at the former shoe factory and at Lee-Rowan in Jackson, and at Morrow Upholstery in Fruitland. She had owned and operated Country Creations Craft Shop since 1984. She attended First General Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Johnny James of Jackson; a daughter, Julie Wilferth of Fredericksburg, Texas; five brothers, Lee Roy, Charles and Guy Brown of Jackson, Elmer Brown of Scott City, Albert Brown of New Wells; and a granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. Friday.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Luther Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Pulliam Cemetery.
