Steven Carter Ruppel, 48, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born April 21, 1973, in West Berlin, Germany, to Steven Earl and Deborah Wamser Ruppel.

Steven was a 1991 graduate of Jackson High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University. He was active in the River City Players before relocating to Chicago to pursue a career as a stage actor. Steve was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Old Town Chicago before returning to the Cape Girardeau area.

Survivors include his mother, Deborah Lange of Farmington, Missouri; father, Steven Earl (Jane) Ruppel of Onalaska, Wisconsin; wife, Lisa K. Lange of Cape Girardeau; mother- and father in-law, Vickie and Bill Griffin of Chaffee, Missouri; sister-in-law, Kara (Eric) Seyer of Chaffee; nieces, Karlee and Kaycee Mae; nephew, Luke; aunts and uncles, George and Rosella Wamser of Belleville, Illinois, and Al and Mary Wamser of Plant City, Florida; cousins, Greg and Chuck Hahn of Houston, Texas; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Al and Fern Wamser of Fredericktown; and paternal grandparents, Walter and Rose Ruppel of Webster Groves, Missouri.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until noon Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral with Father Allan Saunders officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the American Liver Foundation, P.O. Box 299, West Orange, NJ 07052.
