Steven Michael Blackwell, 58, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at his home. He was born Oct. 8, 1954, in Cape Girardeau, son of Voren Robert and Elizabeth Lewis Blackwell. Steven Michael Blackwell, 58, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at his home.

He was born Oct. 8, 1954, in Cape Girardeau, son of Voren Robert and Elizabeth Lewis Blackwell.

Steven was a substitute teacher at Jackson High School for eight years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, nieces, nephews and students.

Loving survivors include his father, Robert Blackwell of Jackson; two brothers, Robert (Barbara) Blackwell Jr. of Cape Girardeau and Mark (Brenda) Blackwell of Oak Ridge; two sisters, Deborah (Gene) Schlick of Jackson and Sandy Blackwell of Cape Girardeau; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Blackwell.

Services were private with cremation accorded by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Jackson.
