ADVANCE -- Funeral service for Sterling O. Kirkpatrick of Advance will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Marlyn "Bud" Schott will officiate, with burial in Grassy Cemetery at Grassy.
Kirkpatrick, 86, died Monday, Feb. 3, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 17, 1910, at Grassy, son of Charles M. and Mary Hill Kirkpatrick. He and Freda Kelley were married June 17, 1945, in Cape Girardeau.
Kirkpatrick was owner/operator of Gambles Store in Advance more than 32 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bob Kirkpatrick of Bowling Green, Daryl Kirkpatrick of Columbia; two brothers, Joe and Noah Kirkpatrick of Grassy; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
