KELSO, Mo. -- Stella Virginia Essner, 83, of Kelso died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 3, 1929, in Kelso, daughter of Clarence and Lorena Ida Ellinger Stone. She and Cletus Essner were married Jan. 29, 1948, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fornfelt (Scott City).
Essner worked at Ely Walker Factory, Lowenbaum Dress Factory, Ralph Edwards Coat Factory, Superior Electric, and she retired from the Lutheran Home in 1993. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church at Kelso, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary 6420 in Scott City, life member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 6407 in Scott City, life member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Chapter 16.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Robert "Bob" (Linda) Essner of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Dorothy Marie (Melvin) DeBrock of Kelso; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a fifth great-grandchild expected in February.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister, and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Parish prayers will be at 6 p.m., with Knights of Columbus service following.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin at celebrant. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Augustine Catholic Church.
