Stanley A. "Stan" Harrell, age 78, of Manchester, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo., with his wife by his side.
He was born on May 2, 1935 to the late Ezra L. and Leota Spear Harrell in Brownwood, Mo.
Stan enlisted at the age of 17, his senior year at Chaffee High School, in the United States Marine Corp. He was stationed in Japan and flew troops, jeeps and equipment in and out of Korea. He returned after three years of serving and graduated from Chaffee High School in 1956.
He married Sharon Williams on June 11, 1957 and would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in June of 1987 but she preceded him in death on Feb. 19, 1987. Stan graduated from SEMO with a B.S in finance in 1962.
Stan and Mary Margaret Hagan were married Sept. 29, 1988 and were married 25 years.
He retired from McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft on Oct. 26, 1990 after working there for 29 years as a senior logistics specialist.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Hagan-Harrell, of the home; two daughters, Monae (Tim) Harrell-Rosgen of Pittsburg, Pa., Rene (Dave) Harrell-Garson of Potter Valley, Calif.; two granddaughters, Lauren and Danielle Garson.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ezra L. "Sonny" Harrell.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, Mo. Parish prayers will be held at 7 p.m. at the chapel.
Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Ambrose Catholic Church Cemetery in Chaffee with full military honors presented by the Missouri Honor Guard.
