CHARLESTON -- Stanley H. Jones, 71, of Charleston died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1993 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Siekston.

He was born April 23, 1923 in Iberia to Lem and Mary Lee Jones.

He had lived in Charleston since 1961 where he was a member of the United Methodist Church and co-owner and operator of the Shoe Counter with his wife, Jane.

He was employed with Frisco Railroad for 10 years prior to working as a line supervisor with Union Electric Co.

He worked for UE 35 years, retiring in 1988.

He serves as staff sergeant with the Army Air Corps during World War II and was held as a prisoner of war in Germany for 14 months.

An active member of the Charleston Lions Club for 34 years, he was a past president and was currently serving as secretary.

He had been honored as "Lion of the Year" in 1992.

He served as secretary of the Missouri Association of Engineers for eight years and had served as president of the Charleston Band Boosters for eight years.

In 1942, he married Marie Hickey, who preceded him in death in 1964.

In 1969, he married Jane Fairhurst, who survives.

He is also survived by five daughters, Darlene Jackson, Tallahassee, Fla., Kay Hendrix, Fruitland, Lee Ann Farkji, Oak Ridge, Sherri Glover and Terri Harris, both of Sikeston; one stepson, Randall Williams, East Prairie; one brother, Avery Jones, St. Louis; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

One brother preceded him in death.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Sunday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Richard Combs, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Charleston officiating. Eulogy will be given by Don Moxley of Bertrand.

Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Charleston.
