Stanley Emmons

Stanley Eugene Emmons, 69, of Cape Girardeau went home to be with his heavenly father Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008.

He was born Jan. 15, 1939, in Blodgett, Mo., son of Eugene and Mildred Angle Emmons. He and Nellie Reed were married Aug. 21, 1965, in Cape Girardeau.

Emmons served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church, American Legion Post 63, Men Battling Cancer and Craftsman Independent Union. He attended Southeast Missouri State University.

Emmons worked for John Meyer Construction in Rolla, Mo., Modglin Construction in Scott City, was employed with Frucon about 10 years at Procter & Gamble, and later with Nip Kelley Trucking and Equipment 15 years. He retired in 2004.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie Emmons of Cape Girardeau; a son, Greg (Nicole) Emmons of Jackson; a daughter, Rachelle Emmons of St. Charles, Mo.; two brothers, Mick and Don Emmons of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Deloris Niswonger of Cape Girardeau, Deborah Fisher of Clarksville, Tenn.; and three grandchildren, Austin, Brayden and Cooper Emmons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Mark Anderson and Delbert Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery with full military honors by Missouri Honors Team.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
