SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Silverius Francis "Spats" Menz, 86, of Scott City died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 20, 1915, at Kelso, Mo., son of Nickolas and Mary Mirgeaux Menz. He and Grace Miller were married April 24, 1944, at Scott City.
Menz was a self-employed bricklayer. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Scott City VFW Post 6407.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles and William Menz of Scott City; three sisters, Margie Littleton and Lucille Swann of Cape Girardeau, Billie Bohannon of Sikeston, Mo.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers, and a sister.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 5-8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. David Coon officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
